A member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN) and also newly re-elected President of the Association of Tourism Boat Operators and Water Transporters of Nigeria (ATBOWATON) Dr. Ganiyu Tarzan Balogun has called for peace and unity among members of FTAN.
Tarzan made the call while delivering a goodwill message on behalf of his association during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the federation recently held in Abuja. Tarzan said the federation would only make progress in an atmosphere of peace and unity. His words: “I am appealing to all of us here, whatever the differences we have, for the sake of tourism, I just want us to forget these differences, so that we can unite ourselves, we can work together, because they say ‘united we stand, divided we fall. ’ I am going to ask some questions now: where is Mr. Frank Meke? Where is Mr. Nkereuwem Onung, our former president? We need to work together. I expected the see the ex-President of FTAN right here. The truth is bitter, but we need it. The chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Samuel Alabi is here. I am ready; I am pleading, let’s work together. Yesterday, there was a mistake that was done, but today it has been corrected
“Those days, when come to a gathering like this, all the associations will be mentioned. Yesterday, it was not like that, but today, it has been corrected. That is what we want. We should not expose our dirty linen outside. We need to work together.”
Tarzan ended his speech by appealing to the presidents of the member-associations of FTAN to throw away their differences to work for the good of the federation: “Please, I am appealing to everybody. All the presidents of associations, whatever differences we have, let us throw them aside so that we can work together”
