The President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), Mr. Yinka Folami has said the association is positioning itself beyond being just a body for travel agents, but is focused on NANTA members becoming global travel ambassadors.

He said this in his speech at the 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Folami said NANTA and its members are redefining how Nigeria is represented in the global travel. His words: “We are repositioning ourselves as Global Travel Ambassadors. We are not merely intermediaries; we are professionals who steward the image, reputation, and values of Nigeria across borders. This is the responsibility we embrace.”

Folami also said the association is strengthening internal discipline, deepening compliance structures, improving market engagement, and taking more intentional approach to destination promotion.

On the 50th anniversary celebration, he said the association has created a legacy being the organized voice of the downstream travel trade in Nigeria, shaping standards, supporting policy compliance, and representing the professional interests of its members with consistency and integrity.

The NANTA President also spoke on what his administration has achieved in the last two years: “This administration has remained guided by clear tripod: fair play, protecting market, and strengthening the market. Fair play, because the industry must be governed by transparency, accountability, and equity. Protecting the market because our practice must be shielded from distortion, abuse, and activities that undermine professionalism. Strengthening the market, because the growth must be deliberate, structured, and inclusive.”

He also said NANTA, under his leadership, has sustained active engagement across key areas, most especially in the area of key government policy and fiscal matters where it contributed to conversation around tax and compliance, and in cross-border discussions that affect  travel and trade.
