There is a need for provision of recreational and vocational facilities for youths in the Alimosho Federal Constituency, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the immediate past Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos State, Pharm(Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf has said.

Akinbile-Yussuf who started her political career as a Supervisory Councillor before serving as commissioner in charge of n four different ministries under Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu explained that Alimosho is the largest local government area in the southwestern zone of the country, hence, federal intervention is needed to address critical challenges confronting the lives of people in the constituency.

“Alimosho is the largest local government area in Lagos State but poor .There is therefore the need to empower and lift the poor by attracting federal government intervention in such a large council area like ours.

“For instance, there is a need for entertainment centre and technology hub in Alimosho where young persons can enjoy leisure, network and help in using technology to solve problems. The Federal Government is trying but we need more federal interventions to guarantee a better life easy for our people in Alimosho.

“Each of the six 6 council areas in the Alimosho Federal Constituency must have projects that people can benefit from and unite the communities through vocational zones and recreational facilities for youths. What we have now are numerous malls or shopping centres and eateries and they cannot be pass off as recreational centres that could even attract tourists. ’’

Akinbile-Yussuf who is also the brains behind Moremi Goodwill Project, a multimillion naira empowerment programme for residents especially artisans, traders and community development projects which started in 2011 explained that she might throw her hat in the ring for a public office in order to continue to advocate for strategic development of Alimosho.

“I am going to throw my hat in the ring whenever the need arises because my strides as a commissioner in charge of four different ministries in Lagos State has encouraged me to further assist the grassroots by serving my people and seek further development of Alimosho.

“The reason for occupying a public office is to be able to serve people and contribute to their wellbeing. For instance, I conceived and implemented the Moremi Goodwill Project while I was the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Youth Development in the Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA and thousands of residents across the six council areas in Alimosho got job tools and start up equipment and drugs too.

“Youth and Social Development is one of the four ministries I supretdents as a commissioner and my footprints are still there. At the ministry, I initiated the novel and first ever Lagos State Youth Policy, Ibile Youth Academy, facilitated the multimillion naira Disability Fund for the physically challenged in Lagos State, a youth centre in Mosan area of Ipaja in Alimosho council area, and the establishment of two secondary schools in the Oke-Ishagun and Ajasa area of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA in Alimosho.

“Therefore, my aspiration for better life for people of Alimosho has not diminished even our years after I left public office as a commissioner and I will continue to advocate for interventions in Alimosho for the good of residents.’’
