All is set for the 6th edition of the CMD Food Tour taking place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Central Park, Abuja.  The event is a culinary tourism event that offers participants the opportunity to sample cuisines of countries within and outside Africa in one place. It is also a business networking opportunity for participants under an ambience of leisure and relaxation.

So far, over 10 countries have indicated interest to be part of this year’s edition. Among the countries expected to showcase their traditional cuisines include: Botswana, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Congo D.R., Ghana, Malaysia, Namibia, Philippines, Senegal, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Chief Executive Officer of CMD Tourism  and Trade Enterprises, organizers of the Food Tour,  Cecile Doumbe, while speaking on this year’s edition, said: “In recent years, food tourism has taken important position in tourism  and has become one  of the most dynamic segment of culture. Destinations and tourism companies understand the importance of gastronomy in order diversify tourism and stimulate local, regional and national economic development. We understand this, that is why we are annually organizing this unique tourism cum business event for people from diverse countries to experience the food culture of other countries.”

The 1st edition focused on West Africa and the 2nd edition brought together the Caribbean countries. The 3rd edition saw a huge participation of East African countries, while the 4th edition brought together countries across Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia, and 15 embassies attended the 5th edition under the theme ‘’A Day around the World’’.

Based on the success stories and feedback received, the organizers decided to extend the 6th edition to more countries and territories under the theme ‘’Another Day Around the World’’. Among the sponsors for this year’s edition are Air Cote d’Ivoire, Royal Air Maroc, Mokriss Media, Anneki Events, Bellevue Dental.
